A Rainbow of Earrings

I surround myself with color, most often by sheer accident. Last month, it happened when I decided to make more earrings for a large revolving display I have. Here's what my desk looked like. Click on the image for a larger view:

They're all glass, with the exception of lemon jasper, malachite, and amethyst. It all started with the red earrings on the left, followed by pink and orange:

And you can see how it took hold with the yellow, gold, and various shades of blue and green:

Once I was this deep in, I had little choice than to pull in some purple, and a few pastels to finish it off:

Then I noticed some matched pairs of barrel-shaped beads I had put to the side, and finished off with some earthy shades. The first 2 are jasper, the next is tree agate, and the last is pink quartz.

Last month, I worked on some custom orders. The first was the result of a customer seeing these earrings, which I donated to the Falls Church Chamber of Commerce Gala's silent auction in March:

He asked for something similar for his girlfriend's birthday, and here is the green quartz result:

Next up, a friend asked for earrings to match a necklace I'd made for her a year ago. She plans to wear the set to a wedding later this month.

Here's the necklace, made up of tiny white and blue topaz beads floating above a beautiful, facted, blue topaz teardrop:

And here are the earrings, made with a cascade of delicate chain, where the white topaz beads float above the blue:
